Pet Peeve

Okay, here's a pet peeve of mine: when scrap magazines/websites/etc. refer to "product." As in, "We have lots of new product to share with you." Ugh, I hate that! It seems so affected and pretentious. No, you don't have "product" to share, you have productS. Plural. What can I say... I know it's a small thing... but it gets right under my skin. Every time I read it.

Okay, who told?

You know those blog things? The little quizzes you take and then you copy the results into your blog? Well, I don't mind taking the quizzes but, in case you haven't noticed, I never upload the stuff into my blog. It seems messy and cluttery to me and I'm so borderline OCD that it drives me crazy. So, long story short, I took a little quiz this morning and while I won't upload the graphics and stuff here, I will share the results because they were so dead-on. The topic was "How Do You Live Your Life." Here's what it said about me:

You seem to be straightforward, but you keep a lot inside.
You are always tactful and diplomatic. You let people down gently.
You tend to have one best friend, as opposed to many aquaintances.
Some of your past dreams may have disappointed you, but you don't let it get you down.

The first two, especially, are so me. As for the best friend thing... I don't know. I mean, my best friend is actually Robert. He's the one I talk to about everything and prefer to hang around with. =) Otheriwse, I have a couple friends, but I don't have one "best friend" girlfriend that I am super close to and tell everything to. Anyway, the results of this particular quiz were actually pretty accurate and not something goofy (like, what is your porn star name *lol*) so I thought I would share.

Sailing, takes me away....

Saturday afternoon was spent on the St. Johns River. Charlie (my boss) was moving his boat to a new marina and Robert was going along to help. Pauline (Charlie's wife) decided to go... so I tagged along as well to keep her company. There was next to no wind that afternoon so we never even put up the main sail - just motored. It took a little over an hour to get from Whitney's Marina to the Rudder Club (Liberty Call's new home) and it was a leisurely sail. Afterwards, despite our appearance (lol), we all went to dinner together and had a great evening. Had some dee-lish mahi... yum yum! While I don't necessarily miss crewing on the boat on the Wednesday night jaunts and the races (the heat absolutely does me in), it was a great afternoon out on the water. ROTFL

I read this today and cannot stop giggling:

"A woman always has the last word in an argument...anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new one."

Yeah, Baby!

I received such a great compliment yesterday, not to mention a major stroke to the old ego. My friend Kimberly, an amazingly talented scrabooker/stamper, spoke to me about the possibility of joining her on a design team for a local scrap store. I tried to remain relatively calm on the outside - no turning cartwheels or doing the Snoopy happy dance - but on the inside I was definitely going spastic. =) I mean, how cool would that be? Not only is it a little piece of validation (what can I say, I am highly critical of everything I do and it always shocks the heck out of me when someone likes it) but being given free goodies to create with... one moment while I try to think of something better...

Nope, couldn't think of anything. =) But, back to reality for a moment, there's a chance this won't happen at all. The store owner hasn't decided for sure whether to go that route. But, even if that falls through, there is a second store that Kimberly teaches at that might also be putting together a DT... so there are actually two possibilities floating around. I'll be fine even if neither of them happen, but to know that someone thinks I'm at that level is pretty awesome. Kimberly gave me some great feedback and told me she totally thought I was ready for something like this. It definitely made my day. And I'm one happy little scrap girl.

Shoppy

Anyone who knows me knows that I do not particularly enjoy shopping. Well, except for scrappy stuff... but that's different. =) Otherwise, I'm just not a 'hey, let's go to the mall' kind of girl. Even with clothes. I tend to do a lot of catalog shopping. Or, if there is something specific I need, I go out, find it, buy it, and that's that. Lately, though, I've been in the mood for a few new pieces... nothing specific. Didn't even care if it was for work or casual. Just wanted something new to wear. So when my sister mentioned to me that Stein Mart was having a great sale... I saw that as a sign. =) For those not familiar with Stein Mart, it's an "upscale off-price specialty store chain." Does that clear things up for ya? ;-) I went yesterday during my lunch hour (yeah, so I stretched it a bit - lol) and was very shoppy indeed. There were several rack of summery type stuff that were 30-50% off. I tried on a lot and ended up with three pieces: (1) a pair of dressy-ish black capris with white swirly embroidery, (2) a pair of very casual black capris in a flowy/gauzy material, and (3) a lovely stretchy pullover top with a swirly white/orange/black pattern (will look great with the dressy capris). I also found a too-cute pair of flip-flops with multi-colored sequins on the tops at 50% off. Cha-ching! Gotta love those sales!

Felt Like Sharing...

I haven't posted a layout in a bit so I felt like sharing this morning. This one isn't particularly new... from April, I think... but I figured, why not. I actutally did this one for a Scrap101 challenge - using an arrow on a layout. The pics are of me, my step-daughter Ashley, and my sister Terri (from left to right) in my scrap room... my favorite place to hang out. =)
